The Racing Commission's report on the Waitara and Patea courses was as follows:—Patea R.C.: Seven miles from Waverley course; very ill-appointed in sanitary and all other respects; property leased for short term, without right of renewal, making the club practically proprietary. Waitara R.C.: Eight miles from New Plymouth and four miles from Waitara; very poorly appointed in sanitary and all other respects; well served by Xew Plymouth.
