ITALIAN" LOSSES AT BENGHAZI. REPORTED AT 12,000. IiUMORED MASSACRE OF MONKS AND NUNS. ARABS HELP TURKS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, Received 24, 10 p.m. Malta, October 24. There are persistent rumors that the Italian casualties at Benghazi numbered twelve thousand. It is reported that Arabs massacred all the monks and nuns at Derna. Four thousand Arabs helped the Turks' defence. The Italians bombarded the place for ten hours. THE USE OF THE'AEROPLANE. TURKS REPULSED. Received 24, 9.35 p.m. Rome, October 24. An aeroplane reconnaissance at Tripoli revealed four Turkish camps eight miles beyond the Italian outposts. In several reconnoitring encounters the Turks were repulsed.
FINANCIAL CRISIS IN TURKEY. IMPORTANT HOUSES FAIL. Received 24, 0.35 p.m. Constantinople, October 24. Owing to the political situation a grave financial crisis is imminent. Several failures of important houses have occurred. The Bank of Mytilene has suspended payment for a fortnight owing to the scarcity of gold. There is a sharp run on the Bank of Salonika.
