j The first meeting of the newly-formed J Taranaki Provincial Council of the U.O.R. was held at Haw-era yosterd-iy. / Representatives as under were present: I Bros. Wallace and Knueky, Wangauni; I Bros. Kilvington and Thompson, HiiI wera; Bros. Smith, Buttimore and Clark, Xew Plymouth. The first business was to elect officers for the ensuing year, which resulted as follows:—Provincial Chief Ruler, Bro. Knueky; Provincial Deputy Ruler, Bro. J. Buttimore; Provincial Juvenile Superintendent, Bro. B. J. Clark; secretary and treasurer, Bro. C. Kilvington. Tin, luncheon adjournment was fixed from 12 to I. The tents represented reported an increase in membership since February. Xew Plymouth Tent had gained l(i members, eight being full benefit, two half benefit or female'members, and six honorary members. Wangaiiiii Tent reported an increase of 2(1 members. 11 full benefit, three half beneiit, and sixhonorary. Ha.\vcra reported on increase of 12, 11 being full benefit, and one half benefit. It was thought advisable to try and open new Tents wherever possible and with this end in view the secretary was instructed to write to Wavcrley, Eltbam, Opunake, Patea and Kapon'ga. The meeting confirmed the suggestions | i of the conference held at Melbourne in I March, 1011. The suggestions related to clearance values, a Federal movable I conference, uniform ritual, sick fund consolidation, and medallion for use of meml hers. There was a long discussion in regard ii the proposed increase in subscriptions, :ich district officers pointed out was i ■•essary so as- to bring the Order into i -solvent position, or, at any rate, into « position required by the Oovernmcnt | Actuary. Tt was finally agreed to ask' the district officers not to bring the new scale into force till the Xew Year. The next meeting of the council will be held at Hawera on June 3, 1912. At the conclusion. of the meeting the Past I Chief Ruler entertained the members at I afternoon tea.
