SALE OF WORK.
The sale of work in aid' of the trust funds of the Primitive Methodist Church was opened yesterday in the Good Templar Hall, and, despite the unpleasant weather which prevailed, attracted a good attendance. The arrangement of the stalls is good, and 'business is facilitated by the roomy Mature of the premises, which promiseto he very popular for functions of this kind, . which have frequently been I cramped in the halls attached to the churches. The stalls are in charge of [the following ladies: Flowers and ferns, Miss- Kenyon; sweets, Mrs. J. White; ■ refreshments, Mesdames Moon, Gernhocfer, and Laughlin; post office, Misses Hay and Lepine; dolls, fancy goods, curios, etc., Mrs. Andrews; plain work stall, Mesdames R. J. Liddell and C. E. Bellringer. The afternoon tea was nicely served, and a centre of attraction. The piano used was lent by Mr. Hoftmann. During the evening there was a good attendance, and there were various methods of entertainment and amusement. A shooting competition was conducted by Mr. L. Pepperell. Musical items were given at intervals, Miss G. Moon and the Rev. H. Sharp contributing pianoforte solos and a vocal trio, "Rose, Shamrock, and Thistle," by Misses White, Waldock and Bishop, whilst Mr. 'Andrews' gramaphone selections filled intervals. The takings for the day were very satisfactory. The bazaar will be open from three o'clock this afternoon ytill ten o'clock at night. A first-class programme of vocal and. instrumental music will 'be given by local talent during the evening.
