TARIKI. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A very successful plain and fancy dress ball was held at Tariki on Thursday as a wind up to Mrs. Mcßeth's class. Despite the wet night the hall was over-crowded. Among some very pretty costumes the following were no- / ticeable: Mrs. Jones, "Ridd Milking Machine"; Mrs. Young, "Spanish Peasant"; > Mrs. Rudkin, "Cook"; Mrs. Easson, "Five 1 O'clock Tea"; Mrs. Wasney, "Ruina- . tion"; Miss Easson, "Britannia"; Miss G. Knowles, "Norwegian Peasant"; Miss Knowles, "Dutch Peasant"; Miss Lawrence, "Night"; Miss E. Lawrence, "Good Luck"; Miss R. Lawrence, "Peasant"; Miss James, "Forget-me-Not"; Miss Wasney, "Spanish Girl"; Miss Walker, "Fblly"; Miss Browne, "Old English Maiden"; Miss Kivell, "Dawn"; Miss Mcßeth, "La Gitalin"; Miss Jones, "Forget-me-not." Not many men paraded in fancy attire, and the exceptions were: Mr. K. Matheson, "Highlander"; Mr. E. Drake, "Soldier"; Mr. Middlemiss, "Sailor"; Mr. Easson, "Highlander"; Mr Wasney, "Astrologer"; Mr. H. Stratford, "Masher." Among those jn evening dress were: Mrs. Spey, Mus. James, Mrs. Lawrence, Mrs. Knowles, Mrs. Judd, Miss Matheson. -Miss Bell, Miss Langman, Miss Walker, Miss Kenrick, Mrs. Hancock, Messrs. Judd, Jones, Young, Matheson, Kenrick, Chapman (3), Lawrence (3), Knowles (2), Nicholson, Spencer, James (2), Walker (3), Wasney, Stratford, Hancock, and others. During the evening Miss Mcßeth danced the "Cachuca," which was much admired. Music was supplied by Mr. Barnett, and was all that could be desired. The Grand March was led by Miss Mcßeth and Mr. K. Mathoson. and was well executed.
