Bates' weather summary and forecast:—Westerly winds strong to gale have prevailed and squally #nd showery weather in most parts of ttw country. Snow has fallen in high country in the south. A slight but steady rise in the barometer has commenced in the southernmost districts. Present indications are for high westerly winds, Jfivmg way shortly to a southerly gale. (Much rain is probable generally, and colder weather, and snow on higher levels in the south, with a smart rise in the barometer everywhere soon.
