Last Night. • The Meteorological Office has issued j tilt following summary and forecast: — '• t The barometer has fallen unusually low l in the south, 28.71 inches being recorded fat the Bluff this afternoon. Westerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed everywhere, with showery and changej able weather and snow and hail in parts of the South Island. Present indications mre for cold and stormv weather with hewy rain in most parts of the country, ; and snow and hail in the south. Wes- ; terly gales will probably change to '.•outherlies shortly, with a rising baror neter everywhere.
