ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
A HORSE-TRAINER HURT. By Telegraph— Pnw« Association. Timarti, Monday, y a collision between a taxicab and a gig, on Saturday night, on a hill a mile north of the town, a horse-trainer named Edward Blackmore was seriously injured on the head and body. The aiir was without lights and the collision took place at a sharp corner. Blaekmore was progressing well this morning. DEATH FROM HEART DISEASE. Blenheim, Last Night. Richard Sparks, 57 years of age, employed by Brownlee and Co., sawmillers at Carluke, took suddenly ill on Saturday afternoon and expired on the way to the Haveloek Hospital. Death wag due to heart failure. VEHICLES IN COLLISION. Timaru, Last Night. On Saturday night a taxi-cab and a„ ? u ggy, the latter without lights, came into nearly a head-on collision at the corner of a road near Washdyke. Of the two men in the feuggy one was much hurt and was unconscious for some time. The buggy was smashed and the taxi-cab disabled, and the horse was also damaged. The County Council is ' making a by-law to compel all the vehicles to carry lights. It is not yet in operation.
MAN DISAPPEARS FROM MOERAKI.
•Invercargil), Last Night. When the passengers of the s.s. Moeraki, which arrived at the Bluff from Mel/bourne to-day, lined up for medical inspection it was reported that a steerago passenger, named Sanders, was missing. Sanders took a steerage ticket from Melbourne for Wellington, and boarded the boat at the former port. The. purser and chief steward collected tickets after the Moeraki left Melbourne and received one from Sanders among the rest. Since that time there had been no sign of him. His blankets were not used the first night, and it is assumed he fell overboard. The missing man's luggage was aboard the steamer when she arrived at the Bluff.
