SUMMARY AND PORBOAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. ' The Meteorological Office has issued the following summary and forecast:— Westerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed with a southerly tendency. Squally and showery weather has been reported in many places to-day, and changeable conditions have prevailed. The barometric gradient has decreased to-day, but conditions are still somewhat ominous. Present indications are for westerly to southerly winds, strong to gale, 'with squally and showery weather in most parts of the country. The barometer is very unsteady at present, but will probably rise everywhere in About thirty-sis hours.
