! .SOCI FIT FOR PROTECTION OF i HEALTH. A full committee met on 'Monday in the Town Hall. Correspondence was read from the secretary of the Timaru branch suggesting that New Plymouth act in concert with other centres in asking for the Government grant to the society. A letter was read from the secretary ol the Taranaki Garrison Band intimating the willingness of the band to play at "Brooklands" garden party. It was resolved that if Thursday, l!)th., be too iwet for the garden party to take place, that it be held on Friday, 20th. 'Buses I will run from the Vogoltown stand in Devon street to Brooklands. A croquet tournament will be held for prizes. It was decided to have a sweet stall on the grounds, as a quantity of Turkish delight, date creams, and other sweets were offered. The tea committee reported having made every provision for the large number of guests expected to be present. Mesdames Hamer, Arden, Bewley, Bradbury, Home, and Wylie, and Miss Foote have consented to act as judges for the decorative committee. Photographers will be on the grounds to photograph exhibits if desired. Children's ram will be arranged. Members of the committee will be at the Town Hall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday to receive parcels of eatables for the afternoon tea for the convenience of those who cannot send them to the grounds. Several gentlemen have consented to take charge of the gates. 1
