PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Pftrihaka . Road Board was held at Rahotu on Thursday. Present: Messrs. Young (chairman), Harvey, Willcox, and Leahy. IHAIA ROAD. Messrs. T. J. Mildenhall and T. Wallia thanked the 'board for its promptness in writing to the Public Trustee, and stated that the amount of money available 1 would most likely be sufficient to give access to their section. The Public Trustee wrote that he had agreed to advance the additional £IOO, . maiking a grant of £350 in all, only on condition that the settlers interested combined in raising the money necessary to open the road from the Wiremu up to the wonk now done. If that condition was not complied with, then the balance available was only £34, and this'amount the Public Trustee was willing to pay over upon a certificate from the board. PUNGAREHU ROAD. The Reserves Agent wrote that he would be pleased to confer on matters re shifting the Maori fence line. He was of opinion that it would be best for the board mot to shift the fence line as it would mean re-metalling the iroad.—To be informed that some members of the board would meet him on the Pungarehu road as suggested. FOREMAN'S REPORT. Foreman J. P. Kennedy reported as follows: Ruakere Road.—Two days' work witH team will put this road in order. There was 514 chains of new metalling required and he recommended that it be done now. He had ft reasonable offer from Mr. Revell to do the work. The metalling was authorised. Tenders to be called, returnable by the 24th inst Lower Kahui Road.—This had been remetalled full width in the township as authorised, and other repairs to drains and culverts carried out. It had taken 240 yards of gravel to do the work. Forty yards of boulder stone bad been taken out of Momona's pit on to the Upper Kahui road. This stone cost about Is per yard. Lower Waiteaka Road.—-Fifty yards of pit boulder stone had been broken for patching. Paora Road.—Five chains of forming and metalling had been completed. Ha »lio asked that the metal purchased from Mr. Hill four years ago should be removed from the paddock, as Mr. Hill wished to plough. iWitiora Road.—Fifty yards of gravel wore needed for repairs and a. drain also needed clearing.—Gravel to be procured and drain to be cleared if Ma-. pays half cost. ■ ■ ■..,_, Ihaia Road.—ißepairs near the factory l as authorised were being carried out. He also asked that £2O be granted for repairs from ?tr, Kickers to Mr. Atfliek's—Granted. Work had also been /parried out on the Opua and Tipoka roads. GENERAL. '"*• There were three application's) for the position of ranger, and Mr. I'. ©oaroy was appointed to the position.
