MRS. BARTON'S ADDRESS. Mrs. Barton, ex-councillor of Glasgow, gave an open-air address on temperance .yesterday afternoon at the Esplanade to a large audience. In the evening she gave an address in the Theatre Royal to a very good audience. The Rev. T. H. Roseveare presided, and introduced himself as one who had lived nearly all his life in a no license district, and knew the benefits of no license. He then introduced the speaker, in a very hearty manner, as having heard her in the South Island recently. " Mrs. Barton dealt very largely with the question «f iiherty, showing from Scripture and literature generally that true liherty did not mean license, but liberty to do what we ought and not merely to please our own fancy. Throughout her lecture was humorous and patehtic, and her stories with her Scotch accent readied her hearers. Mrs. Barton will deliver an address to women especially on Wednesday afternoon in the ("!<>od Templars' Fall, and again in the evening at the Theatre.
