During the discussion it was elicited that the Clifton County Council were not paying the Board royalty on stone removed. It was resolved that the Board moot during the summer at 7.30 p.m., instead of during the afternoon. Messrs. Jennings and Iline, M's.P., forwarded a report of the business done at the recent Harbor Boards' Conference.' It was resolved to accord Messrs. Jennings and Ifine hearty votes of thanks for attending the conference. The secretary brought up the question of obtaining a derrick for loading wool. It could be worked from the present engine whilst dumping.—The secretary was authorised to obtain prices for two derricks, one at the wool shed, and the other at the tallow shed. Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., forwarded a letter from the Minister of Marine, stating that the Board's resolution re forming the harbor district into wards would be considered when the Harbors Act was being amended. The Public Works Department. Stratford, wrote that some time ago the Harbor Board charged them 2s per ton wharfage and handling charges, and wished to know if the' Board still intended to levy that charge— The Board decided only to charge the Public Works Department the actual cost of handling. O. Caraway, clerk to the Wliakatano County Council, wrote asking for information- relative to the establishment of a harbor board, a.s a movement was on foot to form a harbor board there.
