HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
A committee meeting of the New Plymouth 'Horticultural Society was held in the secretary's office last' night. Present: Mr. G. H. Mcftahey, president (in the chair), Mesdames Doekrill, Ellerm, Russell, Jones and Miss Hempton, Messrs. O. W. Browne, Cattley, Pa ton, Ellerm, G. B. Kyngdon. The 'secretary was instructed to send a letter of condolence to Mr. S. Percy-Smith and family in their bereavement. Judges and stewards were appointed for the rose show rto be held on the oth of November and the spring show on the 7th December. The arrangements for staging were left in the hands of Mr. Pa ton and the president. A class for flowers other than roses was added to the rose show schedule with a first prize of 10s.
