SUMMARY AND FORECAST. | By Telegraph—Press Association. I Wellington, Last Night. ; The Meteorological Office has issued the following summary and forecast:— A westerly law pressure area of unusual intensity has enveloped the country, the barometer recording 28.98 inches at the Huff at 3 p.m. to-day. High northerly and westerly winds have prevailed, and rain hag fallen in most parts. of the country. Present indications are for westerly winds, strong to heavy gale, and veering to southerly shortly. Colder, cloudy and unsettled weather, with heavy rain, is probable generally, with snow on the higher levels and hail in parte of the South Island, with rivers flooded on the West Coast.
