On Tuesday, the 10th inst.. at my Stratford springing heifer yards, there was a fair attendance of buyers, and a. number of heifers were disposed of as follows: Heifers, calved and close up, £6 to £8 12s Od; late calvers, £4 10s to £5; cows in milk, £lO ss. At my Rahotu sale on the same day there was a good entry, but the young cattle were not in demand. A line of dairy cattle yarded on account of Mr. Rutherford were in fair condition, but did not realise as high prices as dairy cows sit recent sales. Mixed yearlings made £2; yearling heifers, poor, 20s Cd to Sits fid; 'yearling bulls, 28s; yearling steers, 02 lis (id to £2 l»s Od; store cows, £3 14s to £4 3s; good forward cows. £5 2s: 2-year steers, £4 4s; Jersey kills, £2 "(is to £5 10s; Jersey heifer. £8 ss; heifers calved, £7 10s; springing heifers. £3 10s to £4 ss. (In account of Mr. Rutherford, dairy tows realised £3 10s to £8 ss; heifers. £4 to £4 3s.
Tlie sale of Mr. T. J,uxton's pedigree and grade stock at AVa.itara road on ■Wednesday, the lltlt inst., attracted a large number of buyers from all parts of tlie district. Competition was keen for all pedigree stock, and price* realised furnished albundant proof of the unabited popularity of the Jersey. The noted cow ''Grannie's Girl. 5 ' having been mated with Mr. Goodson's newly imported bull "The Squire," was the centre of attraction, and she was secured bv her former owner, Mr. E. Griffiths, at the reserve, of lOOgns, who is to be congratulated on his pluck and enterprise. Prices for other cows, some of which were aged, ranged from 23gns to 41gns. A yearling heifer made Sligns. and heifer calves from 21 , /,gns to Aged bulls made 12gns to lOgns; yearling bulls 23'/L'S' ,K to 42gn s . The grade dairy cows were a good useful lot, mostly at full profit, and met with plenty of competition, realising as follows:—Cows at profit mill close up, heavy grade, lOgtis to l.'igns; later and ordinary. £."> to ,£!» !•">-: old and very late. Fat .sheep—There was a large yarding, 431i4 being forward. At the commencement of the sale prices were a shade easier than those ruling last week. Best wethers 22s to 245. extra 28s. medium h!>s to 21s, inferior 17s to 18s. best ewes 22s to 235, extra 245, medium 17s to 18s, inferior 13s to lis. Limbs—4(l were yarded, and these sold at the rates ruling last week. Pigs There was a fair yarding, and a good demand for all sorts.
