DEATH OF A CYCLIST.. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. 1 The inquest on the body Of George Drake, assistant clerk of works of the Harbor Board, who was killed through running into a lorry as he was riding a j bicycle on Waterloo Quay on Monday, resulted in a verdict being returned of accidental death, no blame being attachable to the driver of the lorry. DEATH FROM EXPOSURE. Dunedin. Last Niglht. A niiWdle-agwl man. whose name is supposed to be .Tinvathan Melvoy, was taken to the Xaseby hospital in an exhausted condition, and died before he could receive aivv medical attention. Deceased, who is said to have been drinking heavily of late, was a recent arrival in the district, and wa* going to Kyel)urn station yesterday seeking work., He was then under the influence of j liquor, and must have been out all night.

A PREMATURE EXPLOSION. Westport, Last Night. At the inquest on the bodies of Thomas Low and Timothy Corlcv, victims of the accident on the WestportInangahua Junction railway construction works, both bodies having been found in the river yesterday, no direct evidence as to how the accident occurred Was obtainable, but it was stated that the explosion must have been premature, as the customary warning was not given to those working near where the accident occurred. A verdict of accidental death, caused by a premature explosion, was returned.

ACCIDENT TO NORFOLK ROAD SETTLER.

Mr. Turohi. a settler oil the Norfolk road, met with a serious accident yesterday morning. He was doing some logging up on his section, and was moving a forked log by means of a horse, when the log rolled" over and fell on him, crushing him severely. He was immediately brought in to the New Plymouth Hospital by the morning train.
