There are persistent reports that the Portuguese Royalists have secured a Dreadnought and another warship. The newspapers assert that the Royalist force is twelve thousand, with thirty Krupp guns. The few officers who resisted the advance of the Royalists were tried by courtmartial and shot. The garrisons of the captured towns are frater- ■ nising with the invaders. A CLAIMANT TO THE THRONE. Vienna, October S. The Xeue Freie Presse publishes an inberview with Dom Miguel, who is made to say that the Cortes will have to choose between him and ex-King Manuel. His sons have joined the Monarchist troops, and the prospects of the restoration of the monarchy are favorable, owing to the Republicans being in bad odor. REPUBLICANS REGAIN TOWNS. 'Lislxm. October 8. A large body of Republican forces have occupied Braganza and Chaves.
