TRAGEDY AT PORIRUA.
OXK PATIENT KTLLS ANOTHER. By Telegraph —Press Association. Wellington, Ijivst Night. A horrible tragedy occurred at Porirua Mental Asylum about 11 o'clock oni Saturday, I'rank Peter Renall assaulting John William Vlcmlev-on and beating him to death with a chair and his lists'. Henderson was admitted to the hospital in 100 S. lie came from Wanganui. He was. 44 years of age, and married. Renall is about the same age. He was transferred from Mount View Asylum to Porirua last, year. An attendant heard a scuffle in the room where Renall, Henderson anil six others slept. On rushing in he found Renall on top of Henderson, assaulting him with both fists. The attendant pulled Kenall oil' and then found that Henderson 1 was d'ead. Renall said Henderson had struck him, but he bears no mark of violence. Eight were sleeping in the room, because of lack of accommodation.
All inquest was hold this afternoon, tlie jury lnvding that deceased died fn>:n shock, caused by injuries inflicted by Toenail while in a state of mania. A rider was added that the attention <d the Government should be drawn to tb, overcrowded state of Hie institution, thereby causing' day rooms to be used as dormitories.
