RECIPROCITY
AUSTRALIA AND XT.W ZEALAND. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, October 7. Mr. Tudor, Minister of Customs, has initiated negotiations with New Zealand regarding reciprocity, by despatching a request for information. He intends shortly to communicate with Canada.
Sir Joseph Ward's announcement that he would be glad to enter into an agreement similar to the one with South Africa he regarded as tonehing merely the fringe of the subject. The Commonwealth was more likely to want an agreement similar to that between New Zealand and Canada. Mr. Fisher is an ardent advocate of reciprocity, and declares that the countries) must be drawn nearer together. Mr. Fisher, speaking at the Scotch College, declared that he hoped that in a few years New Zealand would be linked with Australia and associated not only in defence but in commerce and progress.
