PAYMENT OF DUTY.

A TEST CASE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. Thursday. The Chief Justice held that duty waft paya-hle and must be assessed on the value as at the date of export and expom, did not take place till the vessel actually left. Duty therefore was due on the advanced value in t!ii- in-tance.

Judgment was for tin- Minister, with three »uinc;ts costs.
