.SUSPECTED SUICIDE. Ashburton, Thursday. Richard Milner Buchanan, a bailiff, while recovering from a drinking bout] was found by members of his family in great pain early this morning, and died a little later. Strychnine was found in the house and it is believed to be a case of suicide. RAILWAY CROSSING ACCIDENT. Hawera, Last Xight. An, accident occurred on the Main South road railway crossing early this evening, when a special goods train ran into a trap, resulting in a middle-aged man being seriously injured. He was removed to the hospital'in an uiiconscrout condition, his body being badly crushed. His case is. regarded as hopeless. Letters found in the man's pocket give the name as S. Turkington, blacksmith, Mangatoki.
A MISSING MAX. Dunedin, Last Night. An. active search was prosecuted today for Captain Apstein, who has been missing since Monday. A hat was found on the beach near Tahuna Park, and lias be«n identified as belonging to the missing man. So far as is known he was last seen near where his hat was found, and was then walking in the direction «t Lawyers' Head. Captain Apstein is 73 years of age. ANOTHER SHUNTING ACCIDENT. Wanganui, Last Night. This evening a man named Frank Thomas, as the result of a railway accident, received concussion of the brain, an injured spine and other damages. During shunting operations he somehow managed to get his foot caught under the guard's van, and was dragged along over sixty yards. Had the toe of his boot, which was all that was holding lum, slipped he would probably have been run over by the next car.
