INGLEWOOD NOTES
(From Our Own- Correspondent.) The funeral of the late Mr. A. Gow took place at the Inglewood Cemetery yesterday. The sterling qualities of the deceased were, recognisvl throughout the. district, and general regret was evidenced at his untimely death, and many expressions of sympathy have been forwarded to Mrs. Cow in her bereavement. The cortege was a very large and representative one, The procession was headed by a large muster of Inglewood Druids, of whom deceased was a member. The school children were also present under the headmaster (Mr. Stratford) and the teachers, and the Cadets under Lieutenant Surrey, and the Scouts under Scoutmaster Humphrey, all visibly affected by the loss of a teacher whom they had learned to love and respect on account of his kindly nature, as not only was he their teacher but their friend. The Board of Education was represented by the chairman (Mr. Trimble), Mr. Morton and the secretary (Mr. Whitcombe), and there were also a number of Mr. Cow's colleagues from various parts of Taranaki The scholars and teachers forwarded a wreath and cross, and the Scouts a wreath. In fact there was quite a profusion of floral emblems from the various societies with which deceased had been connected, and also from sorrowing friends. The pall bearers were the members of the local school committee, and the funeral service was impressively rendered at the grave by the Rev. Hotichen.
