MURDER IN NEW GUINEA
A SCHOONER FOUNDERS. by Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 4, 9.5 p.m. Sydney, September 4. The Orinan nmil steamer brings? news of the murder of Captain Broetter, in Oerman New Ouinca. Broetter's schooner was carrying a crew of four Europeans and twenty natives, and wis engaged in exploring north-west of Friedrich Willielmshaven. llroetter and another European were examining a river when they were, surrounded by natives. Broetter was fatally speared. His companion escaped by floating down the river on a log, but found that the schooner had disappeared. It is feared Hie vessel foundered in a storm with all hands. The Cernian authorities despatched a punitive expedition to the scene of the murder.
