THE OTAKI SEAT. By TcJcgra-ph—Press Association. Levin, Yesterday. Mr. Byron Brown, Independent Opposition candidate for the Otaki electorate, addressed the electors at Levin last night. He criticised the Premier's Budget figures, and contended that the assets were inflated. He asserted that the actual position of New Zealand was that the liabilities were £93,000,000 and the assets £81,000,000, thus showing a discrepancy of £.12,000,(>OO between the Premier's figures and the facts. A motion was carried on the voices that the meeting expresses pleasure at seeing Mr. Brown a candidate again.

THE WAITEMATA SEAT. Auckland, Last Night. Mr. A. Withy, who had intended ottering himself for election in Waitemata, has withdrawn from the contest, and will stand for Auckland East against Mr. A. M. Myers. THE II ATA I'll A SEAT. Tnvcreargill, Last Night. Mr. J. Maefiibbon. Independent Liberal candidate for Mataura. addressed the electors at Woodlands to-night. His principal topic was the land question, on which lie favored the freehold, with a limitation of 500 acres of first-class land for auv one individual, lie favored total prohibition, redressing the disabilities of civil servants, and eulogised the humaritarian legislation of the Government. A vote of thanks and confidence was passed.

THE KG MO'XT SEAT. | The Hon. T. Mackenzie visited Kaponga and Manaia on Monday, where stops were taken to form committees. A meeting of liis supporters was hold on Monday evening in tlio Klt.lia.rn Town Hall. The gathering included representatives from Manaia and Opunake. Mr. Mackenzie crave a short address, in the course of which lie touched srn\o.ral!> upon the main points of his candidature. Subsequently a strong committee was formed, Mr. Wake being appointed chairman, and Mr. E. Farrott secretary. The proceedings were of a very enthusiastic character.
