SALE OP A PARCEL OF CHEESE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. Mr. ITaselden, S.M., gave judgment today in a case in which J. Dunibleton, dairy factory proprietor, sued J. B. MacEwan and Co. for £34 10s 6d on the ground tlmt instructions to stop the sale of a shipment of cheese per Aram - a had not been complied with. It appeared from the evidence that plaintiff wired to defendants instructing them to stop the, sale, hut before cabling to London they wrote to plaintiff, asking for confirmation of instructions, the result being that the shipment was sold before the cable readied Home. The magistrate held that plaintiff wis entitled to recover, and assessed the damage at 3d per i'\vt. on 1ft!) cwt., giving judgment for plaintiff with costs.
A CLERK ARRESTED. Napier, Last Night. A young man named A. R. -Donaldson, a clerk employed by ilie Napier Borough] Council, was arrested this evening, audi charged with the theft of a cheque for £3. Other charges are likely to follow. A CABMAN ARRESTED. Auckland, Last Night. A cabman named John Brooks was arrested to-day on a charge of attempting to defeat the course of justice by endeavoring to persuade a woman named Minnie Whittingham to give false evidence at the trial of Mrs. CShaughliessy, in the Kingsland case. Mrs. Whittingham was one of the witnesses summoned on behalf of the prosecution. It is likely that another similar charge will tbe laid against "Brooks.
