A NEW CHURCH. By Telegraph —Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. The ceremony of 'blessing the new Catholic Church, which is said to be the largest ami one of the handsomest in the Dominion, was performed to-day. The exterior of the 'building is striking, and the interior is very fine indeed. J The church was crowded at the special service. In the impressive ceremonial and sen-ice. four bishops took part, Bishop Cleary, of Auckland, preaching. CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION. Ohristchurch, Last Night. At the annual dinner of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Civil Service Association last night, the principal subject discussed was classification, several speaker* expressing the hope that a scheme would be submitted shortly. AUOIvIiANiD BRICKMAKERS' ASSOCIATION'. Auckland, Last Night. The Auckland Bric.kmakers' Association has notified the Builders' Association that in consequence otf the in- 1 crease of wages awarded to their employees by the Arbitration Court, the price of bricks will be advanced 2s 6d per 1000 from to-morrow, making the price £3 per 1000 for all contracts let on 'or after that date.
