WIRELESS STATION.
AT NEW BfiIGHTOX. By Telegraph—Press Association. iChristohuroh, Night. Referring to the decision of the. Government to establish a. wireless station a.t New Brighton, the Mayor stilted that, the site clrosen was in evfcry way a. suitable one. It. was dosiraWe that the station should be near the sea, and not in tho vicinity of hills or mountains. The site chosen was in the Domain between New Brighton and New Brighton North. The Government had taken about four acres for the station, and some adjacent land-had also 'been purchased, giving access to the station from the North Neiw : Brighton tramline. There would thus be access from all sides of the station, and it as expected that the place will become very attractive to visitors. The poles will be 150.ft high, so the station will toe quite a prominent feature of the district. One condition imposed by the Borough Council is that the 'Government should provide and' miiintain for the public use a sunshine recorder in connection with the station. There will also Ibe a telegraph station and post office. The part of the domain on -which the station is to be erected consists of sandhills, and is not planted.
