Owing to the enthusiastic manner in which Australia is endorsing his scheme Dr. Maw-son has decided to extend the scope of his expedition. Already over £40,000 is in hand, and ho now intends to raise the limit of subscriptions to £.50,000. if this amount is forthcoming he proposes to establish four instead of three bases, the. fourth at Macquario Island, where a wireless station will be erected, and otherwise strengthen the expedition.
