About thirty members of the Merchant Service Guild met to-day to consider the recent Arbitration Court award. Tho meeting considered the award unreasonable and unjust, and decided to make it protest to the Minister for Laibor. Shipowners state that officers are receiving higher wages tlian men in .similar vessels in any part of the world. The owners say (hey will abide by the award. They point out that it is not likely, they would lake an unfair advantage of any phase of the award. WAINGANI'I TECHNICAL COLLEGE. Wanganui, Last Night. The Wanganui Technical College's handsome new two-storeyed brick building was officially opened' this evening by Mr. Ceo. Fowlds, ex-Minister for Education. Mr. I'owlds made an interesting speech, describing the progress winch the .Education Department had made during the last live years, and of the advancement which bad been made in education. The new building is one of tho most complete in New Zealand.
