(From Our Own Correspondent). The weather of late has been anything but pleasant and interferes with all outside work,,though such crops as oats>. biirlcy, etc., and the grass show remarkable growth. Farmers report that the cows are coming in rapidly, and the milk supply to the Durham road creamery is increasing by leaps and bounds. At a special meeting of the Durham Uoad iFurniers' Club, held on Tuesday evening last, there was a full muster and several visitors were also present. Considerable interest was evinced in the forthcoming gcnerfll election of directors of the Maketawa Co., and after a great deal of discussion on dairy and factory matters in general. Messrs. Hodges. Kickard and ,T. -Dodunski were selected as nominees for Durham road; .1. Hall for central; and T, H. Jones for Norfolk road. Mr. J. B. Simpson, notwithstanding great pressure, declined nomination excepting under certain conditions. Tf the interest in factory matters \r maintained things are likely to hum later on. but--and there hangs a tale!
At the meeting to be held on Monday evening next the following report and balance-sheet will be submitted to share-holders-:—"Your directors have pleasure in presenting their sixteenth annual report and balance-sheet. The milk received was (>,(ilS.S.'S.">lbs. and advances have been made on 2(i!,840.811bs of but-ler-fat. ltutter made amounted to 2Hfi.l.'iolbs (KSOtons 2cwt Oi|rs lolb-O. It took an average of 22.21bs of milk to make lib of butter. Kach lb. of Imttcrfat I.KiSl'h. of butter. The average test was .'i.!l(i. Acting on a resolution pass-ed by shareholders at the annual meeting in lilOT. limiting the reserve account, your directors have transferred the sum of .IMS 12s .">d to the surplus account. Out of a surplus of £110!) :ls M the director* propose to pay a further lit per lb of butter-fat supplied during the season ( lldtll). and to carry the balance forward. Suppliers will then have received equal to lid per lb for the season. The cost of running the Durham road creamery has been apportioned in the manner approved by tlio shareholders on August 22. HtlO. and has been charged :to the •individual suppliers' accounts. You will be asked to elect four directors; two in place of Hrowii and Jones, who retire by rotation and are -eligible for re-election: and two in place of Messrs. Sole and Marshall, who have resigned. You will •be a-.ked to appoint an auditor, and to ■fix his remuneration. The services (if Mr. M. Ifopson arc. again available."
