Mr. Botha, speaking at Roseberg, deprecated the Volkstem article, and, amid cheers, declared that if Britain were at war the Dutch and English Afrikanders would be found righting shoulder to shoulder. The Volkstem.'which is the official organ of Mr. Botha's party, said that it would be advantageous to Great Britain and South Africa if the latter were neutral in (he event of war between Great Britain and Germany. In a later iirliclp tho paper said it was absurd that the Empire should be plunged in war because the Government of one portion happened to develop a quarrel.
