PARK LAWN TENNIS CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of member* of tli» Park Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club was held in the Council Chambers last night, Mr. R. Cock (president) in the chair. The annual report, as published in yesterday's issue, and the balance-sheet wcro also submitted. Jn moving their adoption the president referred feelingly to tho low sustained by the death of the. late Mr. G. Tisch, and the departure, of several of the original members and founders of the club. Taking into account the fact that of the £241 10s :kl expended £l7B was non-recurring, the statement of the finances must be considered very satisfactory. The outgoing committee liad estimated that the working expenses for the coming vear would not exceed £75, and in that case the revenue from members' subscriptions, and proceeds of one or two functions "to raise the wind," should enable the club's indebtedness to be reduced considerably. He hoped to see it wiped out in threeyears, and, in order to assist in attaining this end, said he had much pleasure in again placing "Overdale" at the disposal of the club for a garden party urn offer which the meeting applauded)*. He hoped that members would have an enjoyable season, and that by putting their shoulders to the wheel thev would "be. able to improve the finances as outlined. The motion was seconded by Miss JJlanchett, and the adoption carried without discussion. It was decided, on the motion of the president, seconded by Mr. Tribe, that arrangements be made to increase the bank guarantee, as recommended in the annual report. NEW MEMBERS. Eighteen new members were elected. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted as followed: President, Mr. R. Cock (reelected); vice-presidents, Mesars. T. C. List, W. Ambury and F. W. Sandford; general committee/Messrs. F. C. Tribe U. .1. M. Wells, J. Scanlon, R. J. White «nd H. Smith; croquet committee, \les•lmnes C. M. Hill, T. C. List, W. Ambury, R. J. White, Miss Hodder; secretary, Mr. J. J. Staples; treasurer, Mr. H. J. M. Wells; auditor, Mr. G. R. Callaghan.
On the suggestion of the ladies It was decided to leave the formation of the ladies' committee to a meeting of la<lle» to he called to make arrangements for the opening day.
