THE CHALMERS SEAT. Dunedin, Last Night. Mr. J. Dickson, of Portobello, lias decided to contest the Chalmers seat in the Opposition interest. He is chairman of the Portobello Road Board, and a member of the Otago Harbor Board. WELLINGTON CENTRAL. Wellington, Last Night. f r ; W. T. Young, Labor candidate for " ellington Central, opened his compaiim to-night. He said no more Crown land should be sold. The State should retain and operate sufficient land to meet all demands in regard to ,the national food supply. The Wellington-Lyttelitoii ferry service should be nationalised; old age pensions should be increased to £1 per week and the age reduced' to 00 years; the second Chamber should be abolished; and borrowing should cease. The candidate received a vote of thanks and confidence. THE KAIPARA SEAT. Dargaville, Yesterday. Mr. J. Cordon Coatcs, of Watakohe, will contest the Kaipnra seat at the general election as an Independent Liberal. He recognises that several plankß of -Mr. Massey's platform are consistent with the principles of true Liberal reform.

HON. THOMAS MACKENZIE STANDS FOR EGMONT. Telegrams were received in K'ew PJy. mouth yesterday from the Hon. Thomas Mackenzie, stating that he has, after very careful consideration,! decided to respond to the request, to stand for the Egmont seat. At the last election for Egmont, the voting was— | B.
