The Admiralty's airship was being towed out of its shed when it heeled over. The check-ropes guiding it were released, and the vessel righted itself, but heeled over again, bulged in the middle, and the stem sank in the water. The gondola underneath, with the officers, was partially submerged. I The officers stuck to their "posts. The crews in the towing boats dived safely. The sound of tearing and crackling alarmed the spectators, j The tear extended over five sections, being due to a rupture of the gas bag. The wreckage was housed with difficulty.
