£SOOO TO I SEAT JOHNSON. By Cable—Proas Association—Copyright London. September 23. Sir .Joseph llobinson declared to a South African newspaper that he will attend the light, and hopes that Wells will win. Ft' Wells i-i beaten, Sir Joseph Robinson say, he is willing to give £3OllO to any white man who can beat, ■lohnsoii. INEQUALITY OF COXDITfONS. Received 24, 3.3 p.m. London, September 23. Lord Lonsdale objects to the iiiMftuil' ity of the Johnson-Wells fig-lit. Therefore the contest was not, a bona-lido one. Johnson is getting £(>000 and Wells £2OOO of the profits, thus the inequality. Lord Stanhope, writing to the Times, recalls a conversation he had had recently with a ,Suva policeman, the latter -tating that there had been more trouble in dealing with the colored people since the tJurns-Johnson fight. When in Paris on September fl Jack Johnson, interviewed, said: "There is no pro-pert of anyone ever licking me. I will put in another year polishing off all those win. think they have a chance. I will then keep my theatrical engagements, and come back bore and open a gymnasium. Pick half a dozen 'hopes,' iind let tliem contest the title in France, England. America, and Australia. Tt would make it more interesting, perhaps, if I were to buy a big championship bell, nin] referee the lights myself. At first I thought F would like to settle in England, but T think Paris is more congenial."
