A PRISONER RECAPTURED. By Telegrapl'—Press Association, Gisborne, Last Night. A man named Burneclo, alias Pearee, who, at the just concluded sessions of the Supreme Court, was sentenced to a year's imprisonment and four years' reformative treatment, and who escaped from gaol on Wednesday, was recaptured on Saturday evening in the vicinity of Waerengaokura, 27 miles from Gisbornc. TIMARU FARMERS' CO.-OP. Timaru. Last Night. At the annual meeting of the Timaru Farmers' Co-op. the balance-sheet showed the paid-up capital to be £82,040, uncalled £82,854 reserves £51,117, fixed deposits £IOO,OOO, gross earnings £(i(),0(H), net earnings £24,000. Sales were: (Merchandise £270,000, grain £IOI,OOO, at auction .€431,000; total £898,000; increase £10,450. The profits distributed in dividends and bonuses since the inauguration were £248,000. FITNEUAL OF LATE COTXWEL HAWKINS. Cliristcburch, Last Night. The. funeral of the. late Colonel Hawkins took place this afternoon at the Papanui cemetery. The funeral was essentially a military one, and was attended by a large number of Territorials and Volunteers. General Godley and members of the head-quarters staff were also present. The service at the graveside was conducted bv Chaplain Captain Hcan, <at; the close of which a volley was fired and the "Last Post" founded.' The funeral aroused much interests and large crowds of the public lined either side of the Papauui road to watch Hie cortege pass.
