For a number of years South Taranaki lias been recognised, botli by breeders and buyers, as being the leading horse-breeding centre of the Dominion, and the spring fairs which are held annually at Hawera are regarded as equal to aiiy held south of the line. At this year's sales the horses are a superior lot, the majority of those catalogued coining direct from the breeders' paddocks and comprise many excellent types of all descriptions. In our advertising columns will be found particulars of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agcncv Oo.'s spring horse fair, which is to be 'held at Tattcrsall's. Hawera, from September 27 to -ill. One thousand horses are catalogued, of this number over one-half being heavy and medium draughts, lorrv horses and good weighty growers, the balance consisting of useful van, carriage and light harness horses, including many good pairs, well.bred hacks, cobs, polo and Shetland ponies. Several Clydesdale and Shire colts, thoroughbred, coaching and pony stallions will also be offered. This sale should ali'ord an excellent opportunity to those requiring good horses of all descriptions.
