Mr. Hogg, M.P.. is seriously ill. Air. 11. S. Fitzherbert, S.M., has been granted leave of absence to undergo radium treatment at Sydney. -Mr. J. M. Johnston, of Palmerston North, has been appointed to the directorate of the Bank of New Zealand in succession to Mr. \Y. IT. Quick, deceased. Mr. \V. Halloch, late manager for the Tarnnaki Oil and Freehold Company, Ltd., has accepted an appointment as district superintendent .for the Venezuela Oilfields Exploration Company, and is now in charge of a section of their -work in Sonth America. Constable Smyth, who has had several years' service in the Metropolitan Police, London, and has lately been stationed at Wangiinui, arrived by the mail train last night to replace Constable Listop, recently promoted to the charge of the To. Wcra. station. Mr. W. Kerr. S.M., of Wanganui, is spending a few days at T'e Arolia prior to resuming his duties at tile beginning of October. .Mr. Crooke, who is at present relieving Mr. Kerr here, will then relieve Mr. Fitzherbert at New .Plymouth.—Wanganui Chronicle.
