The superintendent of the Prince Alfred Hospital, in appealing for funds, makes the following comparison, with the Wellington Hospital: Occupied beds Prince Alfred Hospital 334, Wellington 223; average stay, 24 and 2!) days respectively; out patients, 21,847 and 4210; cost of Prince Alfred Hospital £20,044, Wellington .€27,105. He favored management by a. board in preference to New Zealand's method of supervision by the inspector of charities.
