FIRES.

THE HAITAITAI FIRE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Wednesday. Four out of the live houses destroyed by fire in Haitaitai, Kilbirnie Xortli, last night, were owned by Bird Bros. Each building was insured for £3OO in the Alliance Office. The owners state that they are heavy losers. The fifth house was owned and occupied by Gilliert- Hall, of the Union Company's repairing stall'. The house was not insured, nor was his furniture covered. The Phoenix Office had a policy of £75 on the furniture belonging to O'lCane, one of Bird Bros.' tenants. It is not known whether 11. Godfrey's furniture was insured.
