FIRES.
<m FIVE DWELLINGS BURNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Five houses at Hataitai were destroyed by lire to-night. Two were unoccupied. The others were occupied by Patrick O'Kane, ,T. Godfrey and Gilbert Hall. Three of the houses were owned by Bird Bros. A hurricane was blowing at the time of the fire, which originated in •O'Kane's house. The whole of the five dwellings were razed to the ground. The insurances were not ascertainable tonight.
