Received 19, 8.10 p.m. ' Sydney, September 19, Arnst lias returned from a visit to the country, and states that the offer to give a £IOO stake and £250 expenses to meet Barry on the Thames is no good to him. He wants £750 expenses, and an offer to raise his stake. England, he says, does not present much inducement. There would he no difficulty in raising the stake here. He has not made up his mind whether to meet Barry on the Thames if challenged, or io invite him to row on the Pan'amattn. If Barry is willing to come, he can offer him £I,W expenses. He thinks Fogwell must have been cracked right up to let Barry beat him so easily.
