Mr. A. Hatrick, of Wanganui, was in New Plymouth yesterday. Dr. Crowley, Bishop ol Auckland, arrived in New Plymouth yesterday morning. Messrs. Frederick find Henry Candy, of Canterbury, arc ,on a visit to New Plymouth. Mr. E. fi. Jellieoe, of Wellington, "will be engaged at the Supreme Court in New Plymouth this week, appearing for Mr. W. Humphries in his case against tlia Wwtport Coal Co. A Palmerston North telegram reports the death of Mr. (lideou Jamieson, a pioneer of, the Maimwatu district, yesterday at the age of 8" yea rs. He arrived in the district in 1877 from the Shetland Isles, ami resided at Awapuni till the time of his death. (Miss G. Ne-st Davits, instructress in soft cheese-making at the Llcwcni Hall Dairy School, Wales, and a highly qualified cheese-making expert, is on a brief visit to Taranaki. Yesterday she visited the freezing works at Moturoa and other points of interest. To-day, in company with the editor of the Dairyman (Mr. Greville) she is inspecting the factories at Mangatoki, Kaponga, Kapuni, Okaiawa, lliverdale and Normanhy.
