Clifford Poke, Davis's sweetheart, stale* that he last saw Davies at Peacock's Hospital on August 17. lie identified jewellery and clothing belonging to her. On August 22 Peacock told him that Davies was dead. He asked leave to dispose of the body himself and secretly bury it. He intended to take the girl's clothes to his farm at Carrnm Burn. Subsequently he said the body had,liccn buried and the clothes burned. He warned witness to say nothing, or it would be bad for him.
