- LIVE STOCK SALES. ' NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY RE- ! PORT. On Honda}', Mth inst., I held a very successful clearing sale at Lowgarth on account of Mr. F. 11. Hooper. The cows wore in good condition, and met with very keen competition from the large attendance of buyers present. Young grade Jersey cows made from £S 5s to £l9 10s; later, £5 to £7 10s; empties, £3; springing heifers, £7 to £lO 10s; bull, £10; sows with litter, £4 10s to £>o 2s (id; 'hoar, 255; sundries sold well. On Tuesday, the 12th inst., at my usual fortnightly sale at RaliMu, there was only a small yarding, principally of young stock, which realised good prices. Yearling steers made 30s to £-2 4s; i yearling heifers, £2 Is Od to £2 13s 6d; do. poor condition, 10s to 29 s; spring-, ing heifers, £4 5s to £7 10s <id; store! cows, £3 5s to £3 10s; bull, £4. j On Wednesday, 13th inst., I held a clearing sale on account of Mr. Jus. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report:— On Friday, Bth inst., we held our second sale in our Kohuratahi yards, when there was a fair yarding of 415 head of cattle and 200 sheep. There was a large attendance of farmers, about 130 being present at the sale, which was a success, most of the cattle and the whole of the sheep being disposed of at the following prices:—Yearling heifers, £2 to £2 !)s; yearling steers, fair quality, £2 3s Od to £2 10s; mixed yearlings, small and low condition. £4 5s to £2 4s; 2-vear steers, £3 Is to £3 14s; 3-year steers, £4 2s to £5 fis; store cows, £2,lfis to £3 10s; empty heifers, £2 10s to £3 10s; springing heifers, £4 10s Od to €5 10s; dairy cows, back-j ward and aged, £5 5s to £5 12s, and j up to £G (is for more forward stulT; j bulls, £3 to £3 ss; hoggets, lis lid to I 12s. Our next sale at this centre will be held on the stli October, when we expect' there will be a good yarding. We held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards on Tuesday last, when we had a fair yarding of 515 bead of cattle, including 23 dairy cows and 38 dairy heifers, most of which were sold at the hammer and afterwards at the following prices. Competition was not quite so keen for springing heifers as usual, owing to those yarded being somewhat small and lower in condition than usual, but anything first class attracted keen competition and realised full values. Steel's, small and inferior, £1 13s Od to £2 (is; and a very nice lin made from £2 8s to £3; yearling heifers, £2 10s Od and a very nice line on account of a Brookes' road client elicited keen bidding, and made up to £3 4s; 2%-year steers, £3 15s to £4; empty heifers, £3 to £3 10s: store cows, £1 lfe to £3 ss; forward cows, £3 7s to £3 12s and up to £3 17s; dairy heifers, forward but in low condi-1 tion, £4 to £5 ss; while anything nice] made up to £9. Our next sale at Strat-! ford will be held on the 201b inst. | We also hold a sale at Te Wera on the j 22nd inst, when we hope to have a good yarding.

MATTHEWS AND BEXXETT. Matthews and Bennett report that there was a fair entry of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last, prices being about the same. Yearlings, £2 3s to £2 19s; store cows. £2 12s to £3 Ids; bulls, £4 17s (id to £fi 10s; springing heifers, £5 to £0; springing cows, £5 to £S; yearling Jersey heifers. £3 4s to £3 Bs.
