SPRING FLOWER SHOW

AT WHITELEY HALL.

The most beautiful collection of spring bulbs ever exhibited in New Plymouth was to be seen yesterday, and is to be seen again this afternoon and evening at the Whiteley Hall. It is the annual show arranged by the members of the Whiteley Memorial Church, and these shows linvc ibeen held for some year. Despite the fact that the weather has always or nearly always been unpropitious, they have grown and grown. This year the flowers on exhibition arc nearly all daffodils, and a pretty show they make. They include some of the newest bulbs imported to the Dominion, and they are, splendidly grown. Messrs. Gibson and Frethey spend much of their leisure and their means in developing these beautiful flowers, and it is very interesting to see to what a state of perfection the narcissus can he 'brought by careful tending. Other exhibits include Mrs. Nelson Okey, Mrs. T. G. Role, and Messrs. S. W. Shaw and A. T. Moore, and the variety of blooms is large. There are other spring iblooms on show, and the competitive classes for decorated tables and mantels, and shower .bouquets are well filled. The prize-winners are: Decorated tables, Miss Rubv Okey 1. Miss Winnie Sole 2, Miss Black 3. Decorated Mantels. Miss E.uby Okey 1, Mrs. Gibson 2, Miss Sole 3. The Morshead Nursery Company and Messrs. Duncan and Davics have fine exhibits of cut flowers and pot plants. There is also a well stocked 'fancy goods stall, which is well filled with the results of the energies of the young ladies of the congregation. Afternoon tea and supper are also provided. Good business was done in all departments yesterday, and there will probably be further large attendances today.
