THE WEATHER.
~ SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Government Meteorologist Office has issued the following weather summary and forecast:—The barometer rose fast during the night in the south, the winds changing to southerly, strong to gale. Westerly winds, strong to gale, occurred in other parts during the night, and a heavy gale is reported at the - East Gape. The winds moderated and ere more variable to-day. Rain has fallen in most parts of thee ountry, and the rivers are high on the west coast of the South Island. Present indications are for cloudy and unsettled weather, with rain in most parts of the country, and winds variable and equally at times, but moderate to strong westerly winds preiVailing northward of Kawhia and Na- ' pier, and south-easterly breezes elsewberej The barometer will probably rise temporarily in the south, but will fall again for westerly disturbances due towards the end of the week.
