LADIES' CONTESTS, . By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Last 'Night. The Wanganui Ladies' Golf dub opened their championship meeting to-day. The Medal Handicap was won toy Mha Bates (Wanganui),. 112,. handicap 27, nett 85; Mrs. Paton (New Plymouth), 111— 19—91; Miss Bewley (New Plymouth), 110—19—91. The following eight best nett score* qualify for the championship: Miss Wray 95, Miss Gould 97, Miss Ciuve 105, Mian Bewley 110, Miss Brewster 110, Miw Parsons ],ll, Mrs. Paton Ml, Mr*. McLean 112. A play-off took place for the eighth place between Mrs. McLean and Miss. Bates, and the former won. The driving competition was won by Miss Harper (Wanganui), Mies Wray (Palmerston) second, and Miss M. Moora (Wanganui) third.

The approach and putting competition resulted in a win for Alias Slock (Palmers ton),
