BEUTIiK WRIGHT IX PARIS. "OUR MISS GIBBS." llr. Bertie Wright, who will appear' here shortly in -Mr. .1. C. Williamson's production oif "Our Miss Gibbs," tells a good ,story i»«rrtins-t himself concerning a visit once paid to Paris. It very often happened that. twin# to the mysterious quality of his pronunciation, Mr. Wright hurt, when getting about the gay city, been carried in a contrary direction. Mrs. Wright at length came to the conclusion that hubby spoke too quickly for the Parisian ear, and told him so. so Mr. Wright determined to speak slowly and distinctly, and see what effect that would have oil the natives. Thev accordingly set out after this resolution to see the tomb of the great Xapolcon, and in due course, to their surprise, found themselves at the historic spot. On their return to the carriage, Mr. Wright, who really Ifelt that lie was progressing admirably, stood aside with an "Apres vous niadame." to allow his wife enter the vehicle first. Then in his best French he directed the caliby to drive to the hotel at which thev were staying. On alighting from the cab at. the door of the hotel, with con-cious pr.ide Mr. Wright turned to the cabby and enquired, '•('ombien vous dois je?" "Well arf a quid to you, Mr. Wright," replied the man. "I used to drive you home from the Gaiety Theatre often when I was in London."
